Let's go through the FM stations one by one to dissect their ordinariness:
Vega - had a great playlist when they first came on air, only ruined by too much talk by duds like Wendy Harmer and Tony Squires. They decided to make a complete change and get rid of the talk (good) but change what they played as well (bad). Now they just play 70s, 80s and new stuff. Too repetitive for my liking, fairly ordinary choice of songs at times.
Nova - not as bad as it has been in recent years. They're not sure what style they want to play as far as new songs go, so they have a crack at most of them, it doesn't quite work.
Fox - if I want to hear a contest of how much Timberlake, Agueillera and Stefani that can play between 9 and 5, this is the station to listen to. In short, crap music, all the time, over and over again.
Gold - wake me up when you start playing interesting old songs. So many good old songs, they just don't play them. They'd rather pull out Hotel California or Rumours than play something off Mars Needs Guitars or Red Sails in the Sunset. In short, too boring, not enough classic Aussie album tracks.
MMM - where do I start? This is your one stop shop for Nickleback, Chilli Peppers and the 'best' of cruddy rockers like the Steve Miller Band, The Eagles, all the other usual suspects. It sums them up superbly that they have never played a You Am I song. They have a habit of being infactuated with a band for a while and hang on to them too long in most cases - Screaming Jets, Powderfinger, Grinspoon, Pete Murray and more recently Eskimo Joe. Now I'm not saying all these bands are ordinary, far from it (except for Pete Muray, fuck off you whiney shit), but Triple M have a way of grinding them into the ground until you just cannot like them any more. In short - woeful, too repetitive, too many shit songs/bands being played and not nearly enough Aussie music. This station is NOTHING like what a fair-dinkum ROCK station should be. Instead The Eagles play The Saints, instead of the Chilli Peppers play Pearl Jam (their last album kicked ass over the cookie-cutter approach of the Peppers), instead of Meatloaf play You Am I, gimme something off Circus Animals (Letter to Alan, Taipan or Houndog) instead of My Baby or Choir Girl, play New Race by Radio Birdman, play the Ramones, play Spiderbait, just play great music!!!
In Summary - stop boring me fucking stupid with the same songs over and over again, inspire me, interest me and make me say "fuck me what a great song, I don't hear that everyday!!!"

Your summary of Triple M is soooooo true, and TTFM is also 100% correct.
I agree that we need more Pearl Jam, maybe some Gunners live songs, Oils, there are numerous songs that can be played. Mind you, i am maybe a fuddy-duddy radio guy, i tend to listen mostly at about 4.45-5.30 AM when doing my paper round.
McGowan on 3AW really doesn't speak to me, he's 62 going on 90, who is as right-wing as Bolt, yet hangs up on anyone who expresses a political opinion not of hoWARd. Talks to so many old bats, his demographic surely must be large purchasers of incontinence pads and nursing home beds. Maybe i'm also being found out for my 39 y/o age.
Mind you, Mix is complete shit. Fruity dancy crap music is all i hear, by some obscure 90's dance type band. Hardly a good song is ever on when i flick through the dials.
