WHY NOW FONZIE?

I cannot understand why the AFL has charged Ben Cousins with bringing the game into disrepute. At the time of the charge being laid, Cousins had no criminal conviction to his name and reportedly no drugs strikes. So why now?? I understand the news that has just come to light, but he was charge by the AFL BEFORE this news came out. If they wanted to do this, they should've done it 6 months ago when all the action was happening, not now. The AFL just looks foolish and Herr Demetriou the head knob, again.
