OPENING SNOOZE

Ok, so the Olympic opening ceremony was spectacular (so I'm told, I watched about 10 minutes of it), but was it worth all the hassle and money? I mean who's going to even remember it in 2 weeks, we'll all move on won't even be able to recall the blokes running around the globe (I saw that bit in the paper).
Something that would've been memorable would be to have Jackie Chan flying through the air to karate kick a flaming basketball thrown by Yao Ming, after beating the shit out of 37 blokes, to light the Olympic flame. It would've taken 10 minutes, cost a gazillion less dollars and be burned into everyone's memory for all eternity.
I can't say that about the kiddies painting shit on the ground.

Have to agree with Bowie, but aren't all opening ceremonies a yawn and a wank?

I enjoyed it for the most part despite the 'fakery' of some of it.
