If the reports are true about Bucks going back to the pies, it would have to be one of the softest moves in recent memory. A couple of months ago he said he could learn nothing more from Mick Malthouse, now he's seemingly done a backflip that would make K Rudd proud. If he was fair dinkum in his desire to become a coach, get out of the Lexus centre and smell the roses elsewhere as an assistant coach.
I guess the one good thing is, is that it will apply the blowtorch to Collingwood like never before when they lose a couple of games early next year. Will Eddie become the prophet again, like he did for Richmond and Terry Wallace and say that the fans will be calling for Buckley to get the top job sooner rather than later.
I'm also disappointed that Mick Malthouse would put up with this crap, I thought had a lot better character than that.

Sounds like nothing more than the ranting of a bitter Richmond supporter that wished his team could conduct their business like the Pies. The only speculation that came out of this was borne from the media and the media only.
Collingwood didn't play into the media's hands and they got what they wanted. If you label this a soft move, then good for you. I think it's a brave move from not only Bucks, but Mick as well - and your point about the extra media scrutiny just proves that it isn't soft at all. If they can whether the storm that will no doubt brew from Media Street then they'll prove what great football people they are.
At least they didn't fall for the spin of a media tart like Wallace - now that was a soft move.
Worst rant ever Bowee - belongs on Bay 13 on Bigfooty this rubbish!
Eddie said Malthouse is coaching for two years full stop. I would imagine that even if there were calls for Buckley to take over the reigns early from Media Street - Eddie will just refer back to this press conference. That's what good football teams do to counter media pressure.
Take a leaf Richmond.
As for your poorly disguised stab at Eddie and his supposed conflict of interest - I just wish every other media identity with an interest in a club copped the same as Eddie did. But that would require people and the media to do more than just shoot fish in a barrel.
I have to agree slightly that I'm surprised Mick copped this. There he is, being a successful senior couch, and there is his employer, planning his replacement!!
Bitter pill to swallow I would have thought.

I have to agree with the blog Seco. Pies everywhre are loving this at the moment but lets see what happens when the club is ripped apart by these two bullheads. Eddie has satiated the fans with Bucks, they all wanted him, and he kept Mick as well, for a while. Mick should have been allowed to go on his own terms. As it stands he's been pushed out; and he accepted it. Can't help but think there is some massive animosity behind te scenes!
Camo out.
Well Camo, the deal wouldn't have been done without MM's say so. And the only detractors I hear are from people who don't follow the club.
The only negative I see is whether the club can deal with the expected media frenzy that will be whipped up when Collingwood loses two or three in a row. But if you make decisions in your club based on keeping the media happy (i.e. not barking at your door) then you are a pretty poorly run club. If MM was given a two year contract and Bucks went to North or the Tigers do you think there wouldn't be any more or less media speculation in 12 months time regarding MM's position.
At the end of MM's tenure at Collingwood he would have coached longer than Sheedy at Essendon and been in the game for over 40 years- I think Eddie has managed an exit strategy for MM that sees him go out with dignity while also enabling a smooth transition into our next phase.
The people who are saying "Gee, what if Collingwood win the next two flags, they couldn't get rid of MM" - I say, if we win the next two flags "YOU FUCKING BEAUTY" and wouldn't care less who coached us after that.
As for animosity - the only animosity I'm hearing is from disgruntled North and Richmond fans. Collingwood seem pretty tight knit at the moment to me Camo.
Good luck with finding your next coach who has to go back to the drawing board again, like Wallace before him and Frawley before him, and Gieschen before him and so on and so on!
