Why is the new Gold Coast team allowed to just sign anyone they see fit, what happened to the draft? Surely they are receiving enough concessions, but on top of this they seemingly can go around and pick up whoever they want.
Who says they have to be good from day 1 anyway?

How come when Eddie was getting into the AFL about Brisbane getting a cool extra $600K per year everyone was silent, now Gold Coast are now getting the red carpet treatment the AFL is a rort?
I agree that it's a crock but then again can't teams go after Irish players with the same vigour, they probably never thought to pick up an unskilled thugby player.
I'm pretty sure that Adelaide, Port, Freo, and West Coast would be gnashing over this given they had to pay to get into the comp. As for the Victorian battlers - hopefully the extra TV money will help them out.
Clubs like Richmond will be gnashing about their woeful draft selections they've done in the last 8 years because that's it for a while, there'e no chance another club will get a decent pick for a while unless they are happy to trade a Cotchin for them.
