IF IT AIN'T BROKE PART 1

The AFL National Draft last night was completely ruined by a shabby broadcast on Fox Sports couple with the utter bullshit of everyone doing their picks in secret, then doing a countdown of the top 10. Way to ruin yet another thing AFL.
The Fox broadcast told us nothing of players who were actually being picked at the moment and gave little analysis of players that were taken. Incredibly poor effort. If this is the sort of shit that will be dished up for such an important event, they can forget about telecasting it. Let's get it back on radio, at least they told us what happening when it happened.

The reverse draft order didn't bother me.

The broadcast after that certainly did. Talking to one player for ages was a waste of time. And then Gilbee on his experiences was like getting Peter Curran to tell you what happened in the 1986 GF for the entire second quarter of this years final! Bowie is right we wanted to know about the players being selected. And on the rare occasion 'the expert' Sheehan spoke he told us the kids height and that he was a great player. Have someone with critical analysis of the kids there.

I doubt they'd want to put too much emphasis on critical analysis because everybody is so worried about hurting people's feelings at the moment. A comment like "yep, he's a kid that can mark and kick but is suspect on his left side and can go off the boil for periods at a time" may be the truth and good for us but the kid who's just turned 18 will have to wear that and be reminded by fans everytime he gets near it. Will that be good for the kid? Probably not - but the facts are that guys who get drafted more often than not don't make it.

I didn't watch it except strangely enough when they were talking to Luke Ball's manager - I followed it on the AFL website though.
