CATCH UP

My take on the last couple of weeks -

A stabbing isn't a stabbing if it's self inflicted.
How can Avatar be nominated for Best Picture, when (once again for a Jim Cameron film) neither the script or any actors are nominated. Crap script + crap acting shouldn't equal a Best Picture Oscar.
Who honestly cares about Tiger Woods' apology, the only one that matters is his wife. I can't believe the furor in the media on whether people believe him or not. Have to agree with Donald Trump - cut your losses, get divorced, have some fun.
Piss off Robyn Riley.
How stupid do Carlton look now, given the whole Fevola thing has blown over and nothing further has come out.

How good is it to have footy back? GO FOOTY!!!!

Yes, it is great that footy is back.

I'll have a crack at the 'Avatar' comment. It is certainly a change of direction for the Academy to nominate this film (even more so as it is the favorite!). The development and the execution of new technology in making this film will have significant effect on the movies we see in the future. Cameron did a superb job in integrating those elements. While the acting wasn't 'great' and the script a little 'basic' neither was bad. Both were well ahead of movies such as 'Terminator' or 'Wolverine'. I'm curious as to which movie you would have liked to have seen nominated instead. The general consensus is that 'The Blind Side' was the lucky nomination this year (hell, it stars Sandra Bullock) with movies like 'The Hangover', 'Star Trek, '(500) Days of Summer' and 'Moon' the unlucky ones.

I've only seen 4 of the nominated movies but I would say 'Ingloroius Basterds' is my favorite and the one I think is the best - but I don't think it will. (The Hurt Locker is one I haven't seen, and realistically the only one I think might be better).

I agree with Wax on Inglorious Basterds, clearly this was the best film I have seen in the last twelve months, unless you count Burn after Reading but I think that would be too cerebral for the Academy despite the big name cast.

Not a lot of interests in the movies and have no interest in seeing Avatar.

I find it amusing someone has to have counselling to "cure" their sex addiction. Was Tiger really sick or was he just a bloke who thought he could do whatever he wanted to do whenever he wanted it. I also find amusing these poor heart broken porn stars who felt they've been cheated by Tiger. Tigers wife is a dill if she thinks this Tiger will change his stripes.

Is Robyn Riley any worse than Jill Singer or any of the feminazis at the Age? It's a bit like picing Richmond's best player - you can't really.

Carlton will struggle to kick a goal all year and it's hilarious that they listened to media opinion and not their own members and gave him the lemon and sarse.

This cricket season has been the worst I can remember and footy couldn't have come at a better time.

Incidentally did anyone else have a chuckle when Barassi came out and bemoaned free agency when him and a few other greedy bastards in the 70's won flags at North curtesy of a rule favouring teams throwing too much cash around. Too many old clowns in football have too much to say now - here's something they don't want to hear but footy for me is better now than it ever was and even seeing the greats of even the 80's shows how much the skills have improved since then. Yep, Demetriou is a dictator that never thinks he's wrong and he's also fat but despite him footy is still the best sport going around.

Actually another thing that had me laughing (or crying???) was Rudd saying that the government needed to lift their game but still had achieved a lot. With all due respect Kevin I could have flushed all of our hard earned down the toilet and set fire to most of my neighbours houses but that would have landed me in the slammer. Somehow you're still in the same job and your former minister for electrifying houses is now doing half the job he was for the same money. If only I could get demoted Labor style.
