AUSTRALIA, DON'T BECOME AMERICA...

and let a complete and utter moron into the top job.

Let's be honest, policies on both sides have been underwhelming at best and like the bloke who was left with Cinderella's step-sisters, the choice is tough - ugly or uglier (in political terms).
Costello must be spinning in his grave that he didn't hold on for a couple more years, he would have waltzed into the Lodge against this bunch of duds.

Surely this is just a heading to allow Seco an excuse for a couple of paragraphs of his thoughts!

Very fair call Bowie.Mmmmm...So who to vote for??

I assume he means Vote 1 - Greens?

Wax, be a man and tell people what you really think.

As for me and my voting history I've been a Labor voter in all bar 2 elections since voting age. I believe my vote for Howard which made me sick but thought the GST was a way I could determine how much tax I pay was a demonstration of how much thought I put into voting, by voting against my instincts for what I thought was a good idea.

I voted for Kevin Rudd and am not a squib who doesn't tell the world what I feel and who I vote for. I'm also man enough to admit it was a huge mistake and I voted more for what I thought of Howard than what good it would do for the country or for my family.

I now understand my Dad's frustration at Labor despite him being a battler all his life, understand his hatred for unions that did nothing but make life hard for him as a supervisor (which he worked bloody hard, often at the expense of spending time with his wife and kids) in a heavily unionised workforce. I understand the pain my parents suffered paying 17-18% interests rates during the "recession we had to have". I now understood when we had our political arguments when he said Labor pollies never got rich before getting into parliament, only afterwards.

So, Bowie is right - whether you vote Liberal, Labor or the destructive Greens, think about your vote and what it means. Don't throw it away because you hate the other guy because of what he said 20 years ago. Understand that politicians are faced with incredibly tough decisions that I would never wish to be confronted with and often it means doing the opposite of what people would think is "the right thing to do", because of the often unforseen circumstances.

Appreciate your vote and give it careful consideration.

Sorry Wax, went for a few more paragraphs.

On another note, if you want to blame anyone for the Pollies lack of "vision" (whatever that means) or policies - blame the media.

When don't I say what I mean? There was no hidden agenda in my paragraph.

Other than that what you have said is 'fair comment' based on your experiences/priorities. Of course I have other experiences/priorities so I suspect I'm going to draw a different conclusion/vote differently to you. I can assure you I have thought about it.
