ROAD TOLL

Look I'm glad the road toll is down, but it's more down to dumb luck than anything the police try and implement. For them to take ANY credit in this is a disgrace. You watch the road toll ramp up during Christmas, coincidentally when the suicide rate peaks as well. I believe some people try to disguise the fact they are actually doing away with themselves, obviously for insurance purposes, but also to spare the feelings of their families. Much better to die in an 'accident' than to be found in a hotel room or at the bottom of a cliff, with 'no suspicious circumstances'.

Interesting theory Bowie, one I've never really considered. If this was the case I'd say it would only be a very minor percentage. As for the "insurance purposes" who would benefit from this $$, particularly as you say they are trying to hiode the fact it is a suicide. Insurance windfall from the grave?

Actually, Bowie is correct. There is a large % of drivers who die in accidents ARE suicidal. The facts on this one are swept under the carpet.

Interesting related fact. November had the least number of road fatalities in any month since 1954.

I worked with a guy whose brother drove his motorbike into an oncoming truck, so yes it happens.

I wound how many people decide to end it and hit a tree but survive and end up a whole lot worse off than they were before?
